Last updated: October 2026 · Averagers — average speed helper · made by the team behind Aihoy!
This Privacy Policy explains what data the Averagers mobile app ("Averagers", "we", "us")
uses and why. Averagers helps you keep a chosen average speed over a distance. In short:
no account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Your location is processed on your phone,
and only a small, anonymous summary is shared if you leave community suggestions switched on.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the individual operator of Averagers (who also operates Aihoy!). Contact:
aihoy.app@gmail.com.
2. What data the app uses
Location — processed on your phone
While a measurement is running, the app reads your GPS position about once per second to calculate
distance, speed and your projected average.
So that measuring continues when the screen is off or you switch apps, Android shows a permanent
notification and iOS shows the location indicator for as long as a measurement runs. When the
measurement ends, location access stops.
Your route, speeds and positions are not uploaded or stored by us. They stay in the
app's memory and are discarded when the measurement ends.
On the start screen, if you have already granted location permission, the app reads your position once
to look up community suggestions for where you are (see below). The app never asks for location
permission just for this.
Settings — stored on your phone
Your last target speed, distance and the community switch are saved locally on your device.
Community suggestions — anonymous, optional
If several drivers measured the same stretch, the app can suggest the most common setting with one tap.
For this, when you finish a measurement with community suggestions switched on, the app
sends only:
the start and end point of the stretch, rounded to about 100 metres,
the distance and the target average you chose (not the speed you actually drove),
the date (day only),
a random identifier created by the app at first use (an anonymous sign-in). It is not linked to your
name, email, phone number or advertising ID. It is used only to count different drivers, so that one
person's repeated trips do not count as many drivers.
We do not collect measured speeds, routes, exact times or anything that would show how
fast you drove. Suggestions are only shown when at least three different drivers used the
same stretch, and only as a summary (distance, most common target, number of drivers). Individual
records are never shown to anyone.
You can switch community suggestions off at any time on the app's start screen. When switched off, nothing
is sent and no suggestions are requested. The feature is not available in Germany, Switzerland and France;
there the app does not send or request community data.
Technical data
When the app talks to our server, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address
and request logs, which are kept only for a short time for security and troubleshooting.
Website: iOS waitlist
If you sign up on our website to be notified when the iPhone version is out, we store your
email address, the language of the page and the time of sign-up. We use it for this one
notification only — no newsletter, no marketing, and it is not linked to the app or to community data.
3. Why we use it (legal bases under the GDPR)
Measuring on your phone — to provide the function you start yourself
(Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Community suggestions — our legitimate interest in offering useful, privacy-friendly
suggestions based on anonymous data (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by switching the
feature off.
Technical logs — our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working
(Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
iOS waitlist — your consent, given when you sign up (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can
withdraw it at any time by emailing us; this does not affect earlier processing.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell data and we do not use advertising or analytics services. We use:
Supabase — database and anonymous sign-in for community suggestions, and the iOS waitlist, hosted in the
European Union.
Your phone's location services (Google Play services on Android, Apple Core Location on
iOS) — to determine your position, under the terms of your device platform.
Google Play / Apple App Store — app distribution, under their own privacy policies.
Ko-fi — if you choose to support us on our website, the payment is handled by Ko-fi and
its payment providers under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details.
5. How long we keep data
Community records are deleted automatically after 12 months, and only records from the
last 12 months are used for suggestions.
Measurement data on your phone is discarded when the measurement ends. Local settings are removed when
you uninstall the app.
iOS waitlist email addresses are deleted once we have sent the notification about the iPhone version,
or earlier if you ask us to.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data,
to object to processing, and to data portability. You can delete the community records sent from your phone
at any time in the app (About → Delete my community data). Switching the feature off stops
any further sharing. For any request or question, contact
aihoy.app@gmail.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Hungary, the
Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH,
naih.hu), or the authority in your own country.
7. Children
Averagers is a driving aid and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect data from
children.
8. Safety
Set up the app before you start driving and do not operate your phone while driving. Always follow traffic
rules and speed limits; the app is an aid and does not replace your own attention.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date
above.
